    -a moment on a bench
i walk back from the bar
heavy boots strong with the energy of coming back to you
stomp strut stomp and i slide between tables and land back
between your arms on the torn vinyl bench
my feet tangle up in our mountain of bags and hoodies
artist and activist on both of my sides
fierce with power in our lungs in these moments
we are a line up of tender family
a diagram of complications and connections
with fighting arms gentle on each others shoulders
i am finding home in an old divey bar with you
my chest warmed by more than alchohol
    they call your name first
    round one poet
    good luck.

i am looking past individual inspirations of wine and roses. but onto how we interact with strangers. with friends. with the sort of love that happens when you hand a stranger a flower just to make them smile once in a while. when you smell someone's perfume or shampoo in the morning on the train and you're flooded with memories of when the girl whose smile lit up a room smiled at you once. and then you thank the stranger. you tell them that they smell amazing. those times when you walk down rough and tumble sidewalks and can hear the stories living on them. in each person walking by. their ipods singing lullabyes and love songs to them from soul mates and friends from around the world. there is romance in every step you can take in a day. a leaf to notice. the fireplace smell dusting the street. the grass being cut around the corner with its sharp wet green smell mixing with the hard metal oily smell of a hand start lawnmower. it's everywhere. i wonder why it's so easy to not see it.

So omg I get to be excited again. Do you know how cool that is? Sometimes I just feel like wow wtf that there is so much good good writing art and performance shit happening here. And yay that I get to get my foot in some of it. I mean seriously right? So first.

    FRIDAY IS QUEER OPEN MIC
Mollena and I are back in full force with the rocking QOM allumni Sherilyn Connelly on the mic. She'll be reading from her fancy book / show in progress and reading things you have never heard before. You'll be shocked, amazed, transfixed... woo-d even! And if that weren't enough for you, there will be about 10 other rockstars reading their hearts out on the open mic. Maybe you're one of them? Show up at 730, sign up on the list and show us what you got.

Vince & Pete's Three Dollar Bill Cafe
    1800 Market Street, SF
    Show starts at 8pm!

and then Sunday - I am featuring with Sister Spits only SF stop.
wait - didja hear? I AM READING WITH SISTER SPIT

Now this is a crazy big deal mostly because when i first moved to SF and was all busy settling in and drinking my face off, I would hear about Sister Spit and the wacky loud ballsy talented women who would read as part of it. I was thrown, impressed and intimidated. It was before there was any one star (from my boozy perspective) but the concept as a whole just had me crushed out on dyke writers. And now, I am reading in a Sister Spit show. Lots of sentimental there for me on this one. So please come out and support.

    SISTER SPIT: The Next Generation
