Not to "poo poo" on Billboard and Pitchfork and whoever else picked up this story, but it's journalism on the level of Perez Hilton drawing splotches on Hollywood starlets. All content that airs in the UK goes through the Harding Test to pre-screen for strobe effects that might trigger seizures. And, guess what? Many music videos fail that test. All the time. Especially videos made by US record labels and production companies primarily for a US audience (which is either immune to the visual barrage or so hopped up on caffeine and sugar that we just enjoy the shakes). These videos are then re-edited and then get on the air.

The main story here is that some publicist for Gnarls Barkley was smart enough to realize that nobody would bother to do the modicum of research (ie: call someone at MTV in the UK? Or somebody in the production biz?) to realize that this is a very common occurrence that is easily fixable.
